06 Sep 2011 - Ranks and Roles

Rank 1

CEO & Directors

The Chairman forms part of the Board of Directors and, as such, will only implement decisions based on Board agreement. In turn, the Directors will take advice and listen to the Non Executive Directors and Managers who, in turn, understand the needs of the members. The Chairman reserves the right to initiate war, surrender and/or alliance declarations . It is the responsibility of the UKC Chairman to appoint Directors and Non Executive Directors and learn the necessary skills to allow the UKC to develop.

Rank 2 -

Non-Executive Directors

Non Executive Directors are responsible for the direction and implementation of the corp strategy within their own areas of responsibility. A Non Executive Director has no life of his own - he/she is the corp - he/she is fully assimilated. A Non Executive Director is expensed by the corp to a rate of 85% on Ships and is accountable for corp culture, funding and membership. A Non Executive Director can appoint his own managers after consultation with his/her Director and the HR Director (Rank 3's) and is responsible for ensuring that the corp structure is sound at all times.

A Non Executive Director is appointed by the main UK Corp Chairman with input from exisiting Full Directors. All major corp decisions are made by the Full Directors in agreement with it's members and the Chairman. Any decision that concerns matters outside his/her own area of responsibility is out-of-scope but can be raised with the Chairman. A Non Executive Director is expected to fully support the Full Directors and Chairman on ALL matters and help to drive through initiatives from the membership.

This is a tough role which demands trust, maturity, dedication and, above all, integrity. A Non Executive Director is trusted with most aspects of corporation access, rights, roles and priviledges.

A Non Executive Director attends Board of Directors meetings but does not have a vote.

Use of Teamspeak and corporation forums is mandatory. A Non Executive Director would be expected to be active (3 - 4 evenings per week) and attend mandatory Sunday management meetings.

Rank 3 - Dept Manager A rank 3 manager takes full ownership and responsibility for a corp division and is accountable to the Board of Directors and the CEO. The manager will have set targets, tasks and/or budgets depending on the nature of the role and will qualify for additional corporation priviledges. A rank 3 manager will be exected to attend the UKC management meetings as set out by the CEO, must use ventrilo and be active within reasonable limits as decided by the CEO. The CEO and Board of Directors reserve the right to appoint and/or demote Rank 3 managers based on performance and contribution to the UKC strategy, charter and general well-being of the corp.

Rank 3 Managers will be responsible for leading teams and potentially managing 'sectors' or 'departments' of the UKC. Rank 3 Managers can hire/fire their own team members and are responsible for organisational structure within their divisions. The UKC will seek to have a minimum of 2 Rank 3's in each division to ensure resilience and coverage is achieved. It is expected that the rank 3's will work together for the benefit of the division. Rank 3's are fully empowered to make corporation day-to-day decisions in all aspects EXCEPT war, alliance politics and change to agreed Corp Strategy.

Rank 4 A rank 4 member is a senior member having been active the UKC for a minimum period of 4 consequtive months. The promotion may be offered or applied for and will be signed-off based on member activeness, contribution and over-all corporation game-play. A Leader will be given a role/responsibility within the corp (ie: station management, factory management etc..) depending on their aspirations, skills and the corp needs at that time.

The title will reflect this management responsibility ie: combat leader, resource leader. A Leader is fully responisble for his/her own funding, but the corp will apply the discount rate for insurance, clone upgrade and all corp purchases (Including ALL ships)

Rank 5 An accepted corp member now 'based at' a specific UKC office with and official title/role to play in the corp. The Corp will provide all the necessary facilities to enable a member to acheive his/her goals. Fully responsible for his/her own funding, skills training costs and cloning.

There is no time limit or expectation for this rank but the majority of the corp membership will be Level 4/5 pilots and there is a significant discount applied to corp ship purchases. Roles are assigned to ensure that the member can perform his/her duties and regular reviews will be conducted by the Rank 3 management and HR tiers. It is expected that the majority of UKC members will be at this rank.

Rank 6 Member has been with the corp for a minimum of 8 weeks and/or been promoted by a higher ranking member. This rank is aimed at members that are no longer considered 'new recruits' based on their previous experience and time with the UKC.

Members may remain at this rank for as long as they wish but promotion to the next rank will be decided on activity, contribution and 'fit'. The promotion may be triggered by the member or you may be approached by the a division head attempting to recruit you into his/her team.

The corp ship discount rate and hangar access rights are increased but no roles are assigned.

Freshman - Rank 7  A member that has passed the corp trial period (minimum of 4 weeks ACTIVE) and has taken part in corp ops, learned basic skills and can mine at the basic level. The member will be placed at this Rank for a period of up to 2 weeks after graduation so they can look at and decide which of the departments they wish to be part of. After the 2 weeks is up the member must join one of the departments or leave the corp.

This Rank will also be a holding place for members who have been long term afk from the game and have notified CM of this. They will be placed here for security reasons and upon returning to the game will be moved back to the Rank they held.

Probationer - Rank 8 A new recruit that has been with the UKC for less than 28 days - this needs to have been an active period (ie: can't join the corp then disappear for 27 days then expect to go to the next rank). You will be based at the current UKC and have access only to the BIN hangar. No roles or responsibilities will be assigned during this probationary period - irrespective of EVE experience. It is expected that UKC members will be active and join the UKC in-game chat channel as well as logon to the Teamspeak server.

This probationary period is a 2 way process and members are to participate in corp missions, exercises and operations. You will be monitored for the 28 days trial and will need to post in the relevant forum area about those ops done and when you have you jump clones set. These things are required so that after the trial period, if you have enough "ticks in boxes" as it were you can be accepted into the corp as a Freshaman (see above).

For reasons of security, forum access for probationers will be limited. UKC ship costs are at build cost plus insurance but no further discounts are applied until the probation period has expired. Every effort will be made by the current UKC members to help and advise all new recruits but this period is vital to assess 'fit' - for both parties.

Promotion to the next rank will be addressed by the CM team at the appropriate time and in-game/forum details will be changed accordingly.

06 Sep 2011 - The UKC Culture

What does UKC mean?

UKC was originally a corp for UK players only, but due to EVE being a 23/7 game, the corp has been opened to all players of EVE

What is your style?

The UKC has adopted a policy with emphasis on being friendly, respectful and polite at all times. We respect each other and non-UKC members alike. We respect the corporation spirit and understand the concept of teamwork and cooperation.

Will I get bossed about?

Whilst we have adopted a 'hierarchy', all members can have their say and everyone is encouraged to play a part. Joining UKC means being 'part' of something - not just another member to make up the numbers. All members are actively encouraged to work/play in teams, so there is a place for everyone, even from day one. We have defined promotion paths too, so all members have the opportunity to participate in various areas of corporate operation.

Are you just EVE nuts?

We are very relaxed, easy-going and enjoy a good old banter - but we are serious and passionate about our corporation. There is maturity ingame and in the forums, we know this a game, but it is a game we want to enjoy and take seriously, after all, we are paying.

Our member forums are busy with a whole range of topics both in and out of game (not viewable to non-members).

What keeps you together?

There is camaraderie, trust and a sense of 'belonging' throughout the corporation. Everyone is involved and everyone cares. If you don't fit - you will be told.

What if I don't want to play along?

There are no great pressure on members in UKC to do anything at all. However, greater participation brings higher rewards. The most serious issues arise from non-activity, ie: members joining but not logging on for weeks, or logging on and being 'distant' from other members. Anybody doing this repeatedly will be warned and then removed from the corp if the issue persists.

Will I get help or feel like an outsider?

The management team are always available to help, and all new recruits will be shown how to set everything up and get settled in. We even have a recruitment and training team! You will be warmly welcomed and taken into the fold. From the CEO's to the hangar cleaner, we are a team. However, this is a 2 way process. If you show interest - it will be reciprocated.

Sum it up?

We are ambitious. We have plans and know how to get there. We are well organised and we enjoy playing EVE together. You will get out what you put in and you will never be alone:)

06 Sep 2011 - UKC Strategy

UKC has a vision but, more importantly, it has a strategy that will help us achieve that vision. The vision is simple:

"To create a fun community and structure to accommodate all themes, aspirations and objectives for all players whilst establishing one of EVE's ultimate corporations."

How are we going to achieve this?

Good management, organisation, structure and communications. UKC has adopted a hierarchical structure based on RL business and corporation development.

The building blocks include:

  • Fluid management structure and leadership
  • A corporate charter
  • A well laid-out strategy
  • Organisation
  • Excellent communication mechanisms
  • and - above all - a unified passion for the corporation.

Whether you prefer Industry or PVP UKC has created an environment and framework for you to achieve your goals and enjoy the full spectrum of EVE gameplay.

So what is the UKC trying to achieve?

Ultimately, UKC wants to be one of the best all round member corporations in EVE. UKC understands that many of its members will want more responsibility, more game-play and want more access to the EVE features. Recognising this, UKC infrastructure is fluid and encourages members to take initiatives, develop roles and take leadership responsibilities. Different 'departments' specialising in various aspects of corporate operation and the game allow UKC to be diverse and offer a variety of gameplay to all its members.

2005 was very successfull for the UKC, let us make 2006 even more so.

OBJECTIVES from 2005

Stage One
Establish a core 'trusted' and active management team capable of taking the UKC along the journey. This is the team that will drive home the corporation strategy, culture and objectives in line with the CEO and be fully committed to the corporation cause. This team will form the rank 1, 2 and 3 management backbone and will be empowered to manage the UKC day-to-day issues, membership and core activities.

COMPLETED
Stage Two
Establish profitable income streams to ensure that the corporation receives continuous funding and resources whilst developing a fluid set of divisions within the parent corporation. The divisions will specialise in different aspects of EVE game-play and be managed by rank 3 leaders. Ensure that the day-to-day running of the corporation is resilient and seamless and that the UKC culture is indoctrinated in to all new recruits. Learn to live and operate in a low security region without disruption and ensure the safety and protection of all UKC members. Establish an academy for new recruits with appropriate training and investment and embark on forming partnerships and trusted NAP's with similar minded corporations and/or alliances.
COMPLETED
Stage Three
Establish a claim to a small piece of space either with or without an alliance and become a major influence in the EVE universe. Establish the UKC as a respected corporation/alliance with intelligence, wealth and strength in depth.

Whilst it is easy to dismiss the UKC vision as 'over ambitious' or unimaginative, the UKC believe that a corporation needs objectives and a strategy to achieve it - and we intend to see it through.

06 Sep 2011 - Recruitment

Upon joining UKC, you will be placed under a probationary period where you will have to prove yourself to us. As a rank 8 recruit you will be required to be active, join operations and activities as much as possible and report on the forums under the appropriate section. Your progress is monitored using a forum and game based system where you need to score x number of points to pass probation. The probation period is a minimum of 28 days from joining. If you don't pass Probation, you won't graduate, if you don't graduate, you will be removed from the corp.

Throughout your Probationary period you will be monitored through a number of things. Attitude, activity and participation will be recorded by the CM team, and you may be contacted by the CM team to see how you are doing.

What do we ask of you?

Other than respecting the UKC charter, we will run corporation and alliance operations which we require you to join as much as possible. There will be occasions where life issues hinder this and when these do, you must notify us via the forums or in-game via a Director, CM Member or the CEO, where you will be marked as inactive/unable to participate for a specific period of time.

There are many ways for you to support the corp, from mining operations, to participating in PVP in the name of the corp and alliance. By everybody doing a little, the corp can drive forward to the future. This could be also in helping with logistics, recruitment, POS management or various other aspects of corp life in 0.0.

Finally, it is worth noting that once you graduate the process does not stop, you will be monitored the entire course of your time within UKC. If players stop helping, become in-active or develop the wrong attitude you will be warned, if this continues, you will be asked to go back onto probation where you will go through the entire process again, which means, if you don't pass, you leave.

The UKC is passionate about its reputation and will go to any lengths to protect it. Members seen to be hindering this will be removed. The UKC is not a "shits and giggles" outfit, only apply if you are a serious, mature team player.

For more information. please join our ingame channel 'UK Corp - Public' and contact a recruiter.

If you wish to apply, join 'UK Corp - Public' chat ingame and follow all of the instructions in the MoTD.

03 Sep 2011 - The UKC Charter

When signing up to the UKC, all members also sign up to these rules and conditions. You will have this link given to you by your recruiting CM before you joined and it is also linked on our home page. The UKC appreciate that EVE Online is a game, however you are playing the game with other real people which means your actions have a effect on the other players within the corp. As such, you will be required to play in a co-operative, team-play style and respect the 'role-play' hierarchy, structure and culture that is present within the UKC.

Failure to adhere any of these conditions will not be tolerated in any form whatsoever, and may result in anything up to, and including, a kick from the UKC.

Prime Directive

"To create a role-play environment, structure and community to accommodate all themes, aspirations and objectives for all EVE Online players whilst creating EVE's most prominent multi-divisional corporation and Alliance."

This thread describes the 10 basic articles for all UK Corp members.

Behavior

All players within the UKC are expected to be polite, friendly and helpful to any member of the Corporation and Alliance at ALL times. UKC officials will warn members regarding offensive and/or foul language, bad behaviour or illicit content however persistent offenders will be disciplined. The UKC and Alliance has players of all different age groups, sexuality and religions, we do not want any of these being offended by one individual! All players are expected to refrain from hostilities towards all other EVE Online players unless such activity has been sanctioned by the Corporation management team. Please also insure individual in-game BIO's, forum signatures and other publicly accessibly information be kept clean, tidy and inoffensive.

Communications
Good communications are expected at all times and members are expected to inform the corporation of any prolonged breaks in order to avoid being ejected. Members are expected to read the UKC news and forum pages regularly to keep up-to-date with events and contribute to the corporation discussions. Access and use of the voice system (Team Speak) is mandatory with the minimum proviso that members can listen in. All members are expected to read, learn, understand and follow the UKC processes & procedures.
Being Active
All members are expected to join in as many corporation run activities, not just those within your chosen department, SF will help TI and vice versa. Inactivity is monitored and measured by the CM department and will be used to adjust corporation privileges, rights and access. Be aware that Ranks can go down as well as up. The UKC understand that players will have RL commitments to attend to, however the UKC is no free ride and your efforts will match your rewards.
Protocol
It is mandatory for all members within UKC to follow the corporation strategy, leadership and instructions at all times. All members are required to adhere to the UKC policies, management structure and support the current projects of the UKC. Blatant abuse or ignorance towards the UKC protocol will find you in breech of the UKC charter and lead to termination of your membership with UKC. In Addition, your playername and all associated alts may be added to any Alliance Blacklist.
Integrity
UKC members are reminded that any interaction with EVE Online related websites, IRC rooms or any other media be in-line with the UKC current thinking. Any other personal views that are reproduced have a clear and correct disclaimer stating that it is your view and nothing to with UKC or its Alliance. This relates purely to UKC information and does not refer to your views on the EVE Online game or general EVE Online mechanics, client or general EVE Online concept.
ALT's and Additional Accounts
The UKC recognises the use of alt characters and 2nd Accounts, however these must all be disclosed in your application to the UKC as security checks are done on all characters and Accounts available to you. Be aware that account sharing is against the EULA of EVE Online. Periodic security checks are done at random intervals during your membership within UKC and failure to comply with security checks will result in a instant removal of you from the UKC.
Absenteeism
Members are expected to remain active within EVE Online. There is a dedicated thread within the forums where you can post extended time away from the game, 2 weeks or more is considered extended. Please use your common courtesy regarding this and inform us of anything your feel necessary. If you do not want to disclose your RL position on the forums please contact a CM or CEO regarding this and your place within UKC will not be compromised and a other reason will be made public. All information will be treated with complete confidentiality.
UKC Offices, ranks and rights
The UKC use a role-play framework for all members. This framework exists to make things run smoother and help the corporation run in a manner that suits all members. Members are required to respect the ranking system regardless and any form or insubordination will not be tolerated. Ranks are used loosely in most situations however when rank is called upon, members will respect them. Ranks go up and down, rewards reflect effort.
UKC Management
As stated before, members are required to respect the management structure, ranks and roles at all times. No member is authorised to conduct discussions regarding war, polotics, NAPS, agreements or Alliance membership with any non-UKC members under any conditions. Any request will be directed to a Director or CEO. This si to avoid any problems arising from misinformation.
UKC Culture

The UKC culture is captured in the charter but can be summed up to:

Honesty
Integrity
Helpful
Committed
Loyal
Supportive
Respectful
Active

The UKC reserve the right to modify this charter as the corporation and EVE game mechanics develop. All current members will be notified of any changes and will be expected to re-read accordingly. Ignorance of this charter will not be accepted under any breach.

Any breaches could potentially lead to your membership being terminated by the CEO's.. This charter is not designed to spoil your fun - but to ensure that you don't spoil the fun for everyone else.
